Raise your hand if you love music! There are only a few people on this earth today that hate music, and there is something substantial wrong with their mental state. The rest of us love music. We listen to the radio or Cds in our cars, we carry mp3 players with us, we have music stored on our computers and in our phones, we sing in the shower, and hum or whistle when we’re in a good mood. Music is as much a part of humanity as opposable thumbs are. So this Halloween, instead of being something boring or common; show your appreciation for music by creating an original costume!

You could go the route of dressing up a the type of person who sings or plays the type of music you listen to. For example; dress as a punk if punk rock is what you listen too most, or a pop princess if you dig that type of thing. Or you could attempt a costume that was a little less humanoid and a little more specific.

Creating your favorite MP3 player out of cardboard and either wearing it or carrying it around as a gigantic prop would be interesting. Where it would show the current play list on the screen, you could list all of your favorite bands and songs to make it even more personal. Or perhaps you could construct a top or necklace out of old CD-Rs that have been collecting dust in your bedroom since everything is on your mp3 player now. If you’re not too much into this new technology and long for the days of vinal , you could do the same with records. Goodwill and other thrift stores generally have a section where people have donated their old records, and they go for less than a dollar each. Or maybe just go as the record player itself.

There are plenty of ways to show your love for music, just put on your favorite tunes for inspiration and get to working on that costume!

Facebook Costume

Facebook Costume

Can’t think of anything to be this Halloween? Are you looking around at the items in your living room or bedroom thinking “… could I be a coke can? A sock? A remote control?” The answer -for possibly the first time- is exactly like what your mother has been telling you; you can be whatever you want to be! There is absolutely no chance that you’ll come to the party dressed as the exact same thing as someone else; because this costume will be your own unique brainchild for you and you alone to reap the benefits of. Generally though, it takes a little wit to pull this off correctly. You can’t come to a party as a ball point pen and expect everyone to be in awe of your genius. No, this takes a bit of thought. You really have to know what type of people will be at this party or event that you are going to, or at the very least you need to know what age group will be the most prevalent, then you can choose your ‘object costume’ accordingly.

Say, for example, that the majority of your friends are really into facebook or myspace. You could construct a piece of cardboard with straps so that you could wear it, and decorate it to look like your facebook or myspace page! You could cut a hole in part of it for your face to peek through as if it were your profile pic, and carry a pen with you so that all of your friends at the party could ‘write on your wall’. It would be a really fun conversation starter that would definitely get people interacting.

Or maybe you and your friends all have a specific favorite game that you play. There are “Twister” dresses available to purchase on the internet, or you could use your creativity to construct a giant card or game piece to wear to the party.
